Koinonia gets a bath

The night before last there was a great light show out over the gulf stream. It was a pretty constant flashing of lighning over a large portion of our Western sky. It was great to watch from our nice, dry location. I was kind of wondering if it was going to catch us.

I went out for my shift yesterday morning at 6 AM to gathering storm clouds all around us. I got the answer to my wondering. Within about 30 minutes the rain and the wind began to pick up. The deck of the boat had been getting slippery from all the salt all over the place. A good soaking was just what we needed to get her cleaned up. It worked for sure - there was lots of rain and wind and everyhting got a good flush.

Of course when you get constant winds over a period of time it tends to kick up the waves. It was pretty energetic most of the day yesterday and into last night. We were doing quick one-hour shifts because it gets exhausting at the helm when it is blowing hard. It has settled down now to 6-8 foot swells. The winds are out of the Northeast which is a good direction for us and we are making good progress. Less than 200 miles to go on this leg.

If all continues to go well, we plan to arrive in Bermuda on Sunday.
