Today, Monday August 8, 2011 we passed two new milestones that we happened to notice. One was that we rolled past 6,000 nautical miles since we left Jacksonville. That is miles through the water, not map miles measured in a straight line. As we all know we rarely go straight to where we want to go. I took a picture of the chart plotter when we rolled over 6,000 miles. We were off the coast of Albania in the Adriatic Sea when it occurred. I included a couple of pictures off the Albania coast at that time as well.
The other milestone happened earlier in the day as we were leaving the Greek island of North Othonoi. We rounded the eastern side of the island and headed slightly Northwest for our track to Montenegro. We realized that we had just reached the eastern-most point we would see on the boat. We were at this location when we started to turn back West:
N 39' 52.5
E019' 26.7
The last picture is a shot of the island of North Othonoi from our eastern-most position.
