Here are some pictures I took while walking around Gibraltar. The way the clouds interacted with the rock was very interesting. There is a long fetch of water on the Eastern side of Gibraltar. When clouds come across the back side of the rock they work their way around in very interesting patterns. I included a couple of shots with clouds sneaking around the rock.
I understand that a few years ago there was a tanker accident in the harbor that released a bunch of oil that fouled the marina we were staying in. I ran across an interesting boat with a front-end loader that was used in the cleanup process. I'd never seen a boat with a loader on it.
For my friends who have been waiting for the return of the Mothership (you know who you are). I found it here in Gibraltar. You might want to hussle over here so you don't miss the departure.
There is a nice section of town called Irish Town. We were sent there looking for a hardware store. We found a lot of nice bars and restaurants there and ended up eating at a Mexican place in Irish Town. We saw this funny little mini-car along the way. It's frame was even smaller than a golf cart. In the distance we could see a very modern looking building that appeared to present an optical illusion of some kind. It seemed like you could actually see through the building looking at the windows near the edge. As our angle on the building changed I realized it was not an optical illusion at all. Interesting architecture.
There is a large square in the old part of town lined with shops and restaurants. I included a few scenes from around the square. Shopping in Gibraltar seems to be a big past-time. It is a duty-free shopping zone and the prices are relatively cheap compared to neighboring countries.
Finally, I included a couple of sunset pictures taken around the marina area. I thought it was nice of the seagull to pose so well for me in the last picture.
