Almost ready!

It's the night before cast off and I'm finally feeling about ready. I'm getting a little tired of making and completing lists. I'll be glad when we get aboard and feel that wind hit the sails. I still have some work to do and I'm going to try to jam it out while I can still get Internet service in the river.

The boat is loaded up and everything is full - the freezer, fridge, cooler and all the little compartments are stocked. Don's wife Linda has done a great job of getting everything packaged and tucked away. Thanks for all your efforts Linda!

Saturday morning at 8:30 AM we leave the dock!

Traveling light

I'm really trying to travel lighter this trip so I figured the pony tail was a good place to lose some weight. Donated to Locks of Love

Communications Plan

"A smooth sea never made a skillful mariner, neither do uninterrupted prosperity and success qualify for usefulness and happiness. The storms of adversity, like those of the ocean, rouse the faculties and excite the invention, prudence, skill and fortitude of the voyager. The martyrs of ancient times, in bracing their minds to outward calamities acquired a loftiness of purpose and a moral heroism worth a lifetime of softness and security."

Planning and packing

It's a lot of work to get ready to leave! I'm trying to think through all the things that worked and the things that didn't from the last Atlantic crossing. I remember I was way heavy on the packing last time (as I usually am). So heavy that I actually shipped a box back home from Bermuda. This time, my goal is light, fast and efficient. If I hit any one of those I will be impressed. I hope to get down to one duffle and a backback. I am currently looking for the largest duffle bag I can find. ; )
